Wellie Love

I love walking in wellies!

Not that I can really walk properly - my wellies have steel toe caps and are rather heavy and unbendable which does make for a walking style John Cleese would be proud of.

However, I don't care. I just had the best walk through all the puddles and mud with no worries about soggy socks. I'm not so keen if it is still raining really hard and your lovely waterproof coat drips all over the little bit of trouser that is visible before the wellies start. Especially if it is raining so hard that the rain runs into the top of the wellie. No such worries today as I have managed to time the dog walk to perfection, missing all the real wet stuff as it falls out the sky but getting all the fun of the puddles.

By the way, do you like our fab wallpaper we found when we moved the radiator along the wall! Not got onto the decorating in the hall yet, not necessary when us and soggy dog will be trapsing through over the next few months.

Busy week

Its all been rather busy this week, again!

More Mug Mats made ready for the next few weekends where I shall be at my busiest with events and markets.

This is another fab fabric collection from Sunflower Fabrics which has been so popular at all the shows they have been going to, I have had to be quick to get my hands on the prints that I like!

Reds are proving to be very popular this year, may have to consider just a red range next time! Ah well, no rest for the wicked, back I go to work!

In a barn on the farm.....

Monday again, already! I hope you all had a great weekend, mine was spent down at Standalone Farm in the barn.

This was our home for the weekend. There's not many events I go to where my provided 'chair' is a hay bale! It is, however, a great little area to be in. There are usually about 10-12 different traders in the barn and as we are quite close together, you do get to know eachother!

Not a brilliant picture due to the sunlight shining through the barn wall but the warmth from the sun was very very welcome so it stays!!

My neighbours were a brand new business called Love'em who produce funky, retro childrens clothing using their own designs.

They also have a great range of accessories for grown ups too!

I love this Wizard of Oz lunch box! My apologies to Gil and Vicky as I have totally missed photographing the clothing range. You'll have to have a look online at their website instead!

Talking of lunch and as I am well known for seemingly eating my way through every market I do, I thought I had better snap a pic of my most delicious brunch of a Standalone Farm reared hot dog! I did actually pack myself up some sarnies on Saturday but got cold so had a hot dog and took the sarnies back for Sunday lunch. Of course come Sunday, I was feeling peckish and cheese spread sarnies just weren't going to hit the spot, so back I go for my Sunday hot dog! So guess what I shall be having for my lunch today - cheese spread sarnies!

These were my other neighbours! In this pen the boys, and in the next one, the girls! They were all very friendly and came up to the railing for fuss from the passers by.

New fab blog

Just taking a little break from the lavender parcels I'm sewing. Probably not the best idea to start the day with lavender as I am now feeling very relaxed and could probably do with a nap!

The view at my sewing machine, note the ever present cuppa in the background! Hubby is just in the process of refilling as I type, good man!

Had a little play with some candles this week as I have been holding onto these with this in mind for ages now.

I like the way they look, just with very very simple but hopefully nice looking packaging, rustic like. Thing is I now have the task of decicing on the pricing of them, always the hardest thing for me, if I get myself sorted then i can take them to Standalone Farm this weekend to see how they go on the stall.

My big news today is about a new blog which some of you may be interested in. BSNC is a group of local business folk who got together to offer moral support and help to eachother, plus a large dose of laughter and a platform to get those whinges off your chest! We meet regularly over a lovely lunch and a pint and generally put the business world to rights. There is no hard sell but we have all benefited from each other's suggestions, recommendations and advice.

A little while ago we thought about getting a blog/website together so we can extend our 'expertise' to more people who may not be in the local area. This is the result! Adam of Adam Bradford Ltd has put this together and already we have a recipe from Paul at Clockhouse Catering. I highly recommend Paul's food and am sending Hubby out to get the ingredients for this recipe after he has made the tea!

Right I think I might have done enough promotion for now, back to the sewing I go.

Leaves and Fairies

Just been out in the glorious sunshine this morning. Down the little woodland walk which is my favourite at this time of year beacause of these:

Leaves! Big proper golden and yellow crispy autumn leaves just ready for kicking up as you walk through. They make such a wonderful noise don't they?

It is this little length of the walk that has the best of the leaves. I am almost tempted to take the wheel barrow round to collect them up and have them in my own garden! But that wouldn't be right really would it!

I'm not the only one that likes to run in the leaves.

This is part of the woodland path which I have pictured before when the cow parsley is so high you can't see George at all. Amazing how it is all still there, just waiting for the spring to shoot up again.

When I got home there was a parcel waiting for me (we still seem to be getting all our post in plenty of time at present). I could not think of what I have ordered that would be this size, hmmm mystery. It is a lovely gift from Sue over at Lavender's Blue 2.

And now my little Friendship Fairy is looking over my cotton reels at my desk. Thank you Sue, what a lovely surprise.

I'm off back to that desk now to continue with the big sew whilst making a mental note to start the Christmas sewing much earlier next year! I have only just worked out exactly how long it takes me to make things which will be a great help with future time planning. See I did remember some things from my read of the Time Management for Dummies book! Look out for streamlined super organised and time manged Sarah next year!!!!!!

Time to get up!

Just found this article in our local Villager magazine and had to share it with you.

It is all about alarm clocks and the options for helping you do the hardest thing of the day at this time of year! You see I, like many, have absolutely no problem in getting up during the light sunny summer days as soon as the sun rises, but just as soon as the mornings are dull and lacking in that beautiful sunshine I just find it such a chore. It is now up to the chickens to drag me from my cosy duvet as I feel totally obliged to let them have as much daylight as possible.

So the options we have been given are:

Clocky - An alarm clock that will have you chase after it to turn it off! If you are not quick enough to get to the alarm to silence it when it goes off, it will just take its self off on a little jolly around your bedroom whilst making noise.

I can tell you now that this will NOT be going on my Christmas list, ever. That would set me up for the day completely wrong!

This Wake Up Light however, I do like the look of. A gentle sunrise, from an energy saving bulb of course, which should have the same effect as the natural sunrise in the summertime. With the advantage being that if I make my sun rise before the chickens are up with the real sunrise then I may be able to get dressed before scaring the neighbours by going out to the hen house in my PJs!


This would be a complete indulgence but it is brilliant! The Voco alarm clock will wake you up with gentle birdsong and the voice of none other than Mr Stephen Fry! He will not only inform you that your estate needs attending to, he will even manage a few witty comments to set you off on your day on totally the right foot. I love it!!!!

And then there is this - da-da-daaaaaaa a Teasmaid! Well it is the updated version called Tea Express but you all know what I mean! Brilliant, a cuppa in bed without having to run to the kitchen. I was only thinking that I could do with one of these a few weeks ago and as if by magic......

The only thing is I think I would like a combination of these to make the absolute perfect wake up. Firstly I would have to set the sunrise as I just don't think you can beat 'natural' light in the mornings and a cup of tea in bed would be so special even every day and just to ensure that there is a smile on my face when my feet hit the carpet to start the day I would like a few words from Mr Fry himself. That to me would be the perfect combination. Forget Clocky, as cute as it may look it would be finding it's way out the door rather quickly methinks!

Walking on the beach

The wind is howling and the rain is fairly lashing down against the windows and I am not entirely surprised that this mornings market was cancelled, even if I did frustratingly drive all the way over there before I found out! Hey ho, I have at least made best use of my time and watched last nights episode of Strictly! I can't help it, they have sparkles and twinkly things on and I do love a bit of sparkle! Fancy having a go at the dancing too but just know what a mess that would be considering I can't differentiate between my left and my right.

So I just had a little look at the pictures from last weekend when we ran to the beach for probably the last time this year. Rather pleased that it was last weekend than this as I don't think we would have spent so much time on the beach today!

There was this little worn wooden jetty which I have never noticed before in all the times I have walked up this beach.

The patterns of the wood were fantastic and I love the way the pebbles have become wedged in the crevaces.

Somebody had to pose! Amazingly without his ball which is usually close to hand, or should I say paw.

This is one very very sandy doggy!

I'm looking forward to getting back to the beach soon, but have a little light sewing to do first!
